OUR HISTORY

 

On August 26, 1998 The Delta Iota Lambda Educational Foundation, now the Alpha Onward & Upward Foundation, was been duly incorporated under the laws of the State of Georgia on the effective date stated above by the filing of articles of incorporation in the office of the Secretary of State and by the paying of fees as provided by Title 14 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotate; is a registered 501c3 organization in the state of Georgia.

For nearly two decades the mission of the Alpha Onward & Upward Foundation is to fund the education programs of Alpha-COLGA (The Delta Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.). The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 50l(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

The Alpha Onward & Upward Foundation provides services including, but not limited to:

•  Financial literacy forums and business empowerment seminars

•  Community unity activities honoring persons of great distinction contributing to the Columbus community

•  Voter registration drives

•  Food bank services

•  Clothing bank services

•  Scholarships

•  Mentoring and counseling to area youth
